Aluminum dross, primarily aluminum oxide, is generated during the melting process. In the past, after recovering the metallic aluminum content, the remaining dross was sometimes disposed of in landfills or managed in an environmentally hazardous way. At DAIKI, we have developed the “ ZERO WASTE SCHEME,” a method for converting aluminum dross into valuable resources, such as steel making additives used by steel makers, with zero waste disposal.

Our dross processing flow consists of two major steps. In the first step, we recover metallic aluminum from the dross. In the second step, we convert the remaining aluminum dross into valuable resources. This process contributes to zero-waste generation.. We also provide technology to dross treatment facilities, enabling them to transform dross into valuable resources.

Advantages of The Dross Treatment Process

    High Aluminium Recovery Rate

    CO2 Emissions Reduction

    Zero Waste

    Eco-Friendly

Steel Making Additive – Aluminium Ash for the Steel Industry

Aluminum ash is used in steel making and provides various benefits such as improved yield and quality. It has various applications depending on the aluminium content, feeding method, and timing.

We mainly handle aluminium ash with 30-50% aluminium content. Please contact us for other content ratios.

Usage of Aluminium Ash in the Steel Industry

    Purpose Effect Advantage
Deoxidizer Deoxidizer Metallic aluminium reduces iron oxide and improves the yield of iron. Yield Increase
Exothermic Agent The heat generated by the oxidation reaction of aluminum is used Energy Efficiency Improvement
    Reduction of Cost
    Reduction of CO2 Emissions
Slag Reforming Agent Reduce free CaO in steel slag to stabilize and make it easier to process slag into roadbed material. Slag Stabilization
Forming Accelerator The slag is bubbled, and the electrodes are buried within it, increasing the arc discharge’s heat transfer efficiency. This setup prevents heat from being transferred directly to the furnace wall, thereby extending the life of refractory materials. Energy Efficiency Improvement
    Longer Refractory Life
    Reduction of Arc Flare
Insulation Compound It is added to cover the surface of molten steel during casting, helping to prevent heat loss, optimizing the smelting process and preventing oxidation. Reduction of Cost Steel
    Quality Improvement
Smelting Flux The reaction of CaO with Al2O3 in aluminium ash produces slag, which promotes the interaction between slag and molten steel. Steel Quality Improvement
